The 7 Social Media Mistakes that are Hurting Your Influence

According to Career Builder, “Social media recruitment is on the rise. Fifty-two percent of employers use social networking sites to research job candidates, up significantly from 43 percent last year and 39 percent in 2013.” And, “Forty-eight percent of hiring managers who screen candidates via social networks said they’ve found information that caused them not to hire a candidate (Career Builder, 2015).” Here’s something that we can’t take lightly: Even though many of us are our own “boss,” we can’t dismiss the fact that we would not have a business were it not for the clients who purchase our products and services. It’s these people that are allowing you and your business to thrive or die. And it’s your posts on social media that will … [Read more...]

When God doesn’t give me what I want, right now

I’ve had multiple dreams for my life. And many times, I’ve questioned those dreams. When things haven’t gone as planned or according to my timetable, I’ve cried, I’ve gotten angry and I’ve questioned everything I know about God. I’ve spent many days and nights praying and asking God to come through. But instead of coming through, it was as if my hopes and dreams were dying a slow death. And through the process of dying, I’ve been crushed by those dreams. When my work in the church didn’t go like I had dreamed it would go When my longing for three boys didn’t happen When our finances didn’t allow us to send our son to a Christian private school When I didn’t get that job that I thought would be the answer to our financial … [Read more...]

Did God just close that door or should you persevere?

I recently had an “experience” where I started questioning what God was doing (or not doing for that matter). The movie takes you on a journey as she invents a new kind of mop and the MANY obstacles she faces as she markets it to American moms. One of the many obstacles she faced was that of rejection. After pitching her mop to the head of QVC, he turns her … [Read more...]

Dare to BE who God has called you to be; Dare to #BeWorthFollowing

"God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7 Let’s face it, we live in a world that is consumed with fear. For one minute, turn on the news or scroll through your social media platforms and you will find story after story that is centered around fear. From terrorist attacks, the Zika virus, cancer-causing foods, riot attacks, political worries; the list goes on and on. And if we’re not careful, we’ll find ourselves consumed with the fears of the world; so consumed that we will paralyze ourselves from ever living out the calling that God has given us. Can I be real with you? If we ever want to experience the life that God has entrusted to us, we have to choose daily to do away with … [Read more...]
