  1. Love this week’s video Betsy! It is important to add adventure to your life. Studies have shown that couples who make a habit of trying new things together are happier. Even taking a different route when you’re traveling, trying new restaurants/ recipes, taking a lesson together…anything out of the ordinary. It taps in to that same part of the brain that was highly stimulated when you were dating and everything was new. Pretty cool, huh? So, hope all of our readers will take a risk and try something new!

    • Oh yes, Leigh Ann!!! Rich and I have been married almost 30 years and this move to San Diego has been wonderful for our marriage! We are experiencing so many new things that it’s like dating again! We took the risk of cleaning out all the old stuff, selling our home and making a big change in our lives and it has been wonderful!
But it doesn’t have to be a big move! It can be planning “field trips” to go to some new places together; volunteer together; find new recipes and do some cooking together…anything to change things up a bit!!

  2. The story of the lake on the mountain is so appropriate, because we never know what is just beyond the next rock/obstacle. It may be another boulder or it may be the waterfall we’re seeking!

    • Yes!! Sometimes our risks are exhilarating…sometimes they are disappointing….but they keep us moving forward and make life rich and vital!! And yes!! We all have a “waterfall” that makes our heart leap for joy!! It may be right around the corner!! Thanks for sharing!!

  3. Betsy, I LOVE this story!
I often hold back and stay in the comfortable parts of my life… but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve found I take many more risks! Life is too short to always live on the “safe side”!
Thank you for reminding me to step out of my comfort zone and head out into all that God has for me!

    • Yes, Lori! You have certainly moved out of your comfort zone these last few years!! There’s something lovely about being “comfortable” but we “wake up” when we venture outside of that comfort zone! And we can trust that God is right there with us – leading the way!!

  4. I couldn’t help but hear the Kelly Clarkson song “Breakaway” in my head when I read this week’s theme because the one line in the song is “Take a Risk” 🙂 Taking a risk is something that I’m not always comfortable doing. I usually tend to stay where I’m comfortable even if I’m not totally comfortable there. Kinda confusing I know. I need to be more of a risk taker and do things for me. Perhaps that’s why God placed me with you ladies on this journey, to help me realize it! 🙂 Have a great week! HUGS

    • Thanks for sharing, Michele!! Yes!! Sometimes we stay in our “comfort zone’ even when we KNOW we need something different or when we know it’s not the best for us. We can encourage one another to trust God to lead us to the next step! He is right there with us!

  5. Gladys Zaenger says:

Hi Betsy, i enjoyed your video very much. A few months ago I took several resumes to some real estate companies after 12 years of retirement and a couple of weeks ago i received a call from one of them and I started working 2 days a week working from 9 to 4. I really consider that out of my comfort zone.

  6. Great reminder! Hearing that gives me confidence to keep pursuing. Thanks Betsy!

    • Hi Lynette! You have so much energy and creativity to share! Keep being open to God’s next step for you! I know that YOU know that He has blessed you with outstanding gifts to share with others! Sometimes your risks will turn out – “more than you could ask or imagine” – and sometimes they will not work out the way you thought but will take you to the next step! Thanks for sharing and keep spreading your wisdom!!

  7. Taking Risk at this point in my life is very important. I’m going to be a college graduate in a month. Making critical life decisions for myself. I’m uncertain about taking risk because I find it more comfortable in my zone. I want to find confidence in stepping out on my own and doing what is best for me. Hearing this message today was conformation I needed to continue forward.

    • Thanks for sharing, Keshia! Yes!! You are ready to step out into the wide world not quite knowing what’s out there for you!! The world needs what you have to offer so trust God to lead you forward!! Step by step! Be open and know that your first step will lead you to the next. There are so many opportunities that will open up that you can’t even know exist right now! Wishing you joy and triumph!!
