Still Not Ready for 2016?

Finish Line 2

My new year is looking a little different than normal. In fact, I started the year WITHOUT my detailed plan. Yikes! For me a type-A planner, this was difficult to grasp. I had lots of notes and ideas, but I always use the last week of the year to bring everything together in a nice concise plan in my iBloom Planner. I had set aside the entire week to get ready for the new year.

Well, life happened…again!

My kids got sick! Within that 7 day-span, we went to the doctor four times and to the hospital once. My life was consumed with medicine, breathing treatments every 3 hours, essential oils hourly, and very little sleep. My family needed my full attention, so there was no time to get ready for the new year.

Perhaps you’re feeling a little less than prepared for this new year. If so, I understand. I was feeling soo behind. However, in reality it’s just been a few days. This doesn’t mean the entire year is a loss. We still have most of the year left. So, here’s what I did to regroup:

#1: Choose a different New Year’s Day

Yep, you read that right! Once the kids got sick, I knew that all of my plans for the week were quickly changing. And, since they are my first priority they got my full attention. But, I instantly told my husband that our new year wouldn’t officially begin for a few more weeks. He laughed, but for me it was an important decision so that I could stop feeling behind.

#2: Get Ready for an AMAZING New Year

Once I intentionally decided to move the start of my new year, then I scheduled time to prepare. Here’s a great blog, where I share the 5 things I do each year to get ready for the New Year. Remember, you have new date for your New Year, so do these things leading up to your date.

#3: Have a New Year’s Party

I’m having a New Year’s Party for my lil family, so we can celebrate the start of our new year. We’ve talked about our goals, created our vision boards, and we’re ready to officially get this new year started. Plus, it’s a win-win because now I can get those cute New Year’s party favors at a fabulous discount.

It’s not too late to make it an AMAZING year. Choose a new start date, get ready, and then celebrate the beginning of your new year!

  1. I love the suggestion to choose a different New Year’s Day. I will definitely be doing this. Thank you!

  2. Thank you Kelly. We just moved out of our offices and put everything in my home. We have had to rearrange the house and make room for everything and still close the office down and clean it. Today it is finally finished. I have not had time to even think of the New Year let alone plan it. Thank you for helping me restart. My fast I start in the New Year already went out the window. But I told my husband we will start again for 21-days. So I had was already thinking just start when you can start. This is comforting and confirming.

    Thanks again.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  3. Well this happend to me too, sick kiddo and an unexpected (but wonderful) NYE mini vacation. So I have decided my New Years Day from now on will be my birthday January 15.

  4. February 1 is my New Year’s Day for 2016! This post hit the nail on the head for me. My January has been spent recovering from a not-so-ideal fall and early winter. I am finally getting my bearings and able to plan my way to a successful year. I truly appreciate the encouragement from iBloom. Blessings to all!
