A couple of weeks ago we hit a huge milestone with our iBloom Facebook Page when we increased Facebook engagement by 1,000%! I’m SO excited to introduce you to the woman who made that happen and she just happens to be one of our new Social Media Strategist, Jennifer Bennett. In this role, Jen comes alongside our iBloom in Business clients to help them create a strategy for social media.
I invited Jen to do an interview with me today because I want you to learn some of her insider secrets for how she increased Facebook engagement by 1,000%.

How do you intentionally use social media to build relationships with your ideal customers?
You just start engaging with people. Remember, it’s not all about you! If you are only posting about your business, your products, your services, etc., you are going to lose people very quickly. Social media is about community. Get in on the conversation. Ask questions, respond, and be human! Truthfully, people want to see that you are really human. Don’t feel like you have to perfect all the time. If you trip while walking, share it with people, they can relate. If you spill coffee on yourself, share it, people will relate.
The more human you become, the more connections you’ll make!
What is a social media plan or strategy?
When it comes to making social media work for you and your business, there has to be a plan behind it. Posting just for the sake of posting will not move you and your business forward. Here are some questions that I believe every business needs to ask themselves before diving into SM:
- Why do I want to use Social Media:
- What does social media success look like to me?
- Do I have time for social media?
- Who is my target audience?
- What is my main message?
You recently took over the management of our facebook page at iBloom and within a week we saw a 1,000% increase in engagement. How did you do this? Give us some insider secrets.
This may sound CRAZY to some of you, but I REALLY believe in it! When I took over the iBloom page, I started posting 8x a day. Before you gasp, let me explain.
There are many people out there that will tell you that you only need to post 1-2 times a day or even worse, a week. I really don’t agree with this. Remember, only 16% of your fans will ever see your posts. So if you are only posting a couple of times a day or week, NO ONE is going to see your posts.
You may be asking, but won’t people get mad if I post that much? Here’s the hard-core truth: Those people who get mad, are not your ideal client. Your ideal client is going to love and is going to look forward to hearing from you on a daily basis and the reality is, these are the people that you want to connect with.
So, one of the big ways that we increased the engagement on the page was by posting on a regular consistent basis.
Also, we post a variety of “things”. Quotes, inspiration, graphics, questions, humor, etc. This helps change the page up and people like this.
What is the biggest mistake you see women in business making on social media?
- Not being consistent on Social Media/posting too little
- Getting discouraged when someone unfollows them or someone disagrees with them
- Not having a variety of posts on there platforms
- Not having a branded look that really represents their business
- On Facebook: Not linking their fan page on their personal profile
What one suggestion/tip do you have for women in business who are wanting to maximize their presence on social media?
Be YOU, Be Real, Be Consistent and engage as often as possible. Give value! Don’t Give Up! Even when it seems as though no one is interacting, sharing, etc., keep moving forward. Consistency will bring results.
