My small group of six women decided to work through our book, “iChoose2 Love My Life!”, together in 2012. Meetings would be held once a month at various restaurants. We would use this time to discuss our answers, celebrate “aha’s”, and encourage each other. We were eager to travel this journey in a community!
The first month, we met at a local restaurant and ordered appetizers for the group to nibble on. We opened our books, eager to share all we had gleaned! Just as one of the women was getting deep and personal, karaoke started up! We failed to see the sign as we entered the restaurant; we spent the next 30 minutes trying to talk over participants singing, “Man in the Mirror”! Also, we knew all the songs being played, so we were singing along! We finished as best we could and decided we would pick a quieter place next time.
Our second gathering was at a different location; we learned the error of our ways the first time! As the women arrived and got situated, I spilled my beverage all over the table (and myself!). We had a delightful and patient waitress who brought plenty of towels and quickly cleaned up. The rest of the evening was filled with huge discoveries, new lifestyle changes, and lots of “you can do it” and “we are SO proud of you!”
By the third gathering, the women in my Small Group were opening up and getting comfortable sharing! We met at still another restaurant and as we went through our answers, I could see the women listening intently to each other. The theme that month was purpose. As we got to the topic of our strengths, I suggested we go around and tell each other what strengths we saw in them. Well, I had no idea how profound this activity would be! As we each took the “spotlight”, we humbly listened to what our girlfriends had to say. I suggested we write each word or phrase down and copy onto an index card to post on our mirror, dashboard, etc. We need to look at ourselves as other people see us! Why is it so hard to receive what we love to give to others-compliments?!
The iBloom Team has heard from many of you who are working through our “iChoose2 Love My Life!” book. Some of you are taking a personal journey, while some are doing it with one other person; friend, mother/daughter or wife/husband. I wanted to share my journey of going through the book with a group of women; there are so many possibilities! We’ve even heard from women who are skyping with someone else to share their aha’s and discoveries!
We’d LOVE to hear how you are experiencing our book! Please leave a comment in the section below; you just may give someone a nudge to try it your way!
