Finding Extraordinary Joy in Ordinary Places!

It’s been two weeks since I wrote my blog entry about joy- my favorite word!  I was looking for an item that my daughters hand-crafted for my birthday this year that has the word “Joy” on it, when I got a bit sidetracked…

I started looking for the item… went into the guest bedroom, saw a dress passed down from my sister, tried it on, then remembered I had put a load in the washer, moved the clothes to the dryer, thought of a scripture I wanted to text a friend who’s going through a difficult time, was near my laptop so I checked emails and facebook, and then finally went into the dining room (Joy item still not located!) and saw my Christmas cards sitting in a pile- waiting to be stored in a large manila envelope! (I guess that shows how often I use my dining room!  Though the cards were on my hutch!)

So, I plopped in my favorite blue chair and went through the cards.  Since I have a December Birthday, those cards were mingled in there too!  I didn’t realize how much I needed to reread these kind, thoughtful, and humorous words!  I had a difficult night and morning; still have sad times from the divorce.  But, as I read through the cards written by family and friends, I realized how incredibly blessed I am!   The sadness lifted and JOY filled my heart!   So I added this to my list of how to find and claim my joy- go through old cards, notes, pictures, etc.  Allow yourself to laugh, cry, and aahh as you connect with those people who mean so much to you…

As far as the Joy item- still looking- will take a picture and post on my next blog entry!  Have a JOY-filled day!
