How To Find Inspiration for Blog Content

Sometimes even the best writers want to know how to find inspiration for blog content.  You sit down to write and the infamous writer’s block sets in. Suddenly you feel like it’s all been done before and you have nothing new to say under the sun. Then you wonder, “What was I thinking to start a blog anyway? I’ve got enough work to do without this!”

Well, we’ve all been there and I’ve discovered some great ways to get “unstuck”. People do want to read great content as much as you want to provide it. So don’t give up! Try these tricks, preferably before a post is due, and you’ll have a head start.

How to find inspiration for blog content:

  • File away questions you receive from your customers. If one customer had the question, other customers will benefit from the information too! Group the questions by topic and you then have a series of blog post ideas ready to go when you need it!
  • Choose a theme for a series of posts. For example, my iBloom teammate is doing a series on Fruit of the Spirit so she has NINE blog post topics ready to go! Another bonus to this type of theme, is you know ahead of time what you’ll be writing about and can be gathering quotes, stories, ideas as you anticipate each post. They will practically write themselves!
  • Post an excerpt from something you’ve already done. Have you written a book, given a speech, or creating an information product? Give your readers a sneak peek of what you have to offer by posting an excerpt and then sharing the link for them to learn more or to purchase the product.
  • Invite guest bloggers to contribute. You can add value to your customer by inviting your most respected bloggers in your field to contribute a post. Be sure you believe in what they offer and that it goes along with the integrity of your business. You can then offer to guest blog for them now that you have all of this great content lined up!

So you see, finding inspiration for blog content isn’t as hard as it seems. With a little planning, really listening to what interests your ideal customer, and recycling the hard work you’ve already done, you will be able to provide great content consistently for your readers. Next time, I’ll help you make the most of each post as I share how to make each one irresistible to your readers. Until then, be gathering your ideas so you are ready to write!
