5 Secrets to Having a Successful 2016

It’s that time of year when we start preparing for the new year. If you’re like me, then there are probably things you were hoping to accomplish in 2015, but didn’t. Maybe life just got in the way or you forgot to work toward the goal. Whatever the reason, you’re determined to make this year different. Here are 5 secrets to having a successful 2016.

#1: Create your 2016 Success Strategy

The first step to having a successful 2016 is to plan for it. You need a success strategy that includes your priorities {those things that matter most}, personal life goals, vision for your business, income goals, projects for your business, and an action plan for making all of those things a reality.

The “My 2016 Plan” section is one of my favorite parts of our iBloom Planner. It gives me a place to not only create my success plan, but because it’s in my planner it makes it easy to review it every single day. Plus, there is space to track the books I want to read, events/trainings I want to participate in, and space for creating my vision board. Everything is in one place, so I can remind myself daily of the plan I’m working toward.

#2: Identify your Monthly Goals

Once you have your 2016 Success Strategy, it’s essential to break it into monthly goals. In other words, what do you need to do each month to ensure that you accomplish the things in your success strategy?

For instance, if one of your personal goals is to lose 25lbs by December 31, 2016 – what do you need to do each month to make sure that you hit that goal? Get specific. If part of that goal includes exercise, when will you exercise? How often? What types of exercises?

Or, maybe you have a goal of growing your email list by 5,000 new ideal customers- what do you need to do each month to make sure you hit that goal? Will you create a new freebie or lead generation magnet? Will you add a pop-up box to your website? Facebook Ads? What you’ll do each month to work toward your goal of 5,000 new ideal customers.

I like to spend the last week of each month preparing for the upcoming month. It’s the perfect time to review my success strategy and identify what things I need to work on in the coming month.

#3: Plan for a Successful Week

Once you’ve identified what success will look like for the upcoming month, you’ll break those monthly goals into weekly goals. In other words, what will you do each week that will allow you to work toward accomplishing your monthly goal?

I schedule a two-hour non-negotiable appointment with myself on Fridays to review the past week and prepare for the upcoming week. This is when I identify my goals for the upcoming week. What will make the week a success? I schedule non-negotiable appointments with myself to work on the necessary projects. I use my iBloom Planner to brainstorm project tasks and then identify what day I’ll complete each to-do.

#4: Take Time for YOU & Celebrate Your Successes

As women this is an area we often neglect. We can get so focused on serving others and pushing through to accomplish a goal that we forget to take care of ourselves. And, we rarely {if ever} take time to celebrate our successes along the way.

Make this the year that you invest in yourself. Create a list of things you love to do – maybe it’s reading a book {for fun}, getting a massage, taking a bath, lunch with a girlfriend, going on a hike, or walking around Target all by yourself. Once you have your list {be sure to include it in the “Me Time” section of your iBloom Planner}, then make sure you schedule a non-negotiable appointment with yourself doing something you love.

This is an area of my life that was neglected a bit this past year. So, in 2016, I’ve devoted my Friday afternoons as my “Me Time” day. It’s time away from my work, clients, family, and all other commitments to just invest in myself and the things that recharge me.

#5: Surround Yourself with AMAZING Women in Business

Let’s face it, having a successful business and living a life we love is difficult. It takes concentrated effort to have a success strategy and work the plan consistently all year long. There will be times when you want to quit. This is why it’s essential that you’re surrounded by amazing women in business. These have to be women who get you. Women who love you for you and want to see you be successful in all areas of your life. Women who will celebrate with you, pray for you, hold you accountable, and challenge you to be the best version of you. This special community is essential to having a successful 2016.
